Incredibilul peisaj se află pe lacul Michigan unde în fiecare iarnă, după câte o furtună, farul St. Joseph este acoperit cu un strat gros de gheaţă.
Farul a fost construit cu aproape 200 de ani în urmă şi este simbolul oraşului St. Joseph, Michigan.
Farul original a fost ridicat în anul 1832 devenind al doilea de pe lacul Michigan şi a fost construit din piatră şi cu un singur nivel.
În anul 1859 a fost făcut un al doilea far cu două nivele pe faleză oraşului Saint-Joseph. În anul 1924 acest far a fost preluat de Crucea Roşie care l-a folosit că sediu central al organizaţiei, până în anul 1955.
