Romania's core bourse, the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE), suffered strong corrections today as the market lost on average 2.4 percent, while the financial companies known as SIFs dropped 3.87 percent as investors cashed in profits accumulated in the last period.
Liquidity crashed 62 percent to 16.44 million lei (3.94 million euros) from 44.30 million lei in the previous session.
“Such
corrections are normal given the strong growths in the last period.
Investors are currently giving up shares easily, because they have
already accumulated significant profits. Practically, the exchange went
on the same line as external markets, but much more accelerated,”
declared for NewsIn Florin Catinas, broker with WBS Romania.
The
BET index of the ten best companies on the market dipped 2.04 percent
to 2,570.22 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares
without financial companies lowered 2.39 percent to 1,643.19.
The
BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIF lost 3.87
percent to 12,562.51 and the ROTX index for trading blue chips in
Vienna lowered 2.49 percent to 5,069.04.
The
BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies on the market fell 2.61
percent to 248.79 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies
decreased 2.22 percent to 363.31.
Stock
markets in Europe posted powerful drops at closing hour in Bucharest,
dragged down by banking shares and by stocks in the oil sector.
The
FTSE index in London measuring the best 100 stocks slipped 1.66 percent
to 3,929.32 and the Dax index in Frankfurt went down 1.29 percent to
4,295. The CAC40 index in Paris lost 1.82 percent to 2,878.17.
Financial
company SIF Oltenia (SIF5) was the most liquid stock today, generating
deals of 3.22 million lei, and dropped 5.47 percent to 0.605 lei. SIF
Moldova (SIF2) eased 4.04 percent to 0.499 lei, SIF Banat-Crisana
(SIF1) cheapened 0.79 percent to 0.63 lei, SIF Transilvania (SIF3) lost
3.03 percent to 0.32 lei and SIF Muntenia (SIF4) fell 5.56 percent to
0.51 lei.
Second
Romanian lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) depreciated 3.01 percent to
6.45 lei and Banca Transilvania (TLV) slipped 0.52 percent to 0.965
lei.
Broker Cluj (BRK) gained 2.58 percent to 0.199 lei while oil company Petrom (SNP) dropped 4.29 percent to 0.156 lei.
