The ruling coalition in Romania formed by the Democrat Liberal Party (PDL) and the Social Democrat Party (PSD) established today to meet on May 25 for a debate on the country's energy strategy, which is important to relaunch the economy, said the vice premier Dan Nica.

Nica said that the decisions could also lead to smaller prices for natural gas.

The vice premier stressed that, due to high energy costs, Romania lacked an energy policy that would allow local companies access to cheaper and better power sources.

Moreover, the energy resources need to be better managed.

Romania's new energy strategy will comprise all power sectors, not only electricity producers. However, a decision in this regard could be postponed due to the elections this year, declared last month Iulian Iancu, the head of the Industry and Services Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
