Romanian wine producers predict that sales will go up by an average 25 percent during the Easter holidays versus the usual months, according to companies in the field.

Rares Marinescu, the general manager of Cramele Recas Group explained that the company already sold 30 percent more wine comparing to the first months of the year and that total sales registered a 15 percent year-on-year increase.

Murfatlar estimated it would sell in April about 2.67 million bottles of wine, making for 7 percent year-on-year increase, detailed the brand manager, Daniel Negrescu.

The main wine producers in the country are Vincon Vrancea, Murfatlar, Cotnari, Cramele Recas and Jidvei.

Ovidiu Gheorghe, general director of the employers' union PNVV, declared in February that wine sales would grow this year by 10 percent, the same percentage as every year.

Petre Mocanu, executive director of an organization in the field, recently stated that the national wine production will amount this year to 6 million hectoliters, up from last year's 5.3 million hectoliters.
