Romania's power market watchdog ANRE decided to keep the price of the electricity delivered to the population starting with July 1, despite previous announcement of a potential cut, declared the ANRE head, Petru Lificiu.

According to Lificiu, stimulating output is more important on the background of the current economic crisis.

The ANRE head announced on May 5 during the hearings at the lower house committee to inquire corruption abuses that prices of gas and electricity delivered to Romania’s population could reduce starting with July 1.

The price of electricity delivered to the population increased by 4.4 percent on July 1 last year while the gas price decreased by 3 percent starting with May 1.

Prime minister Emil Boc announced on May 20 that starting with July 1 the price for natural gas will slide by another five percent, after the 3 percent cut operated on May 1.
