Premier Emil Boc reshuffled the Interior Minister and vicepremier Dan Nica Monday morning and said he asked the Social-Democrat Party (PSD) to make a new proposal for the helm of the Interior Ministry in 24 hours.

Boc's decision was based on Nica's lack of progress in fighting against criminality, but also his statement on possible frauds at the presidential elections in November, thing which has not been proved.

The premier said he will propose an interim minister if PSD does not make a proposal in time. Vasile Blaga admitted he is the one to be proposed for the Interior Ministry if PSD fails to name somebody suitable for the position.

The head of PSD, Mircea Geoana, said he convoked a meeting this afternoon to analyze the situation created by Nica's dismissal.

Geoana deems Emil Boc received instructions from President Traian Basescu to remove Nica from the helm of the Interior Ministry, as he wants to fraud the presidential elections.

Three ministers were appointed at the helm of the Interior Ministry in less than a year, the predecessors of Nica being Gabriel Oprea and Liviu Dragnea, both resigning soon after accepting the mandate.
