The Romanian Liberal opposition party (PNL) officially began its campaign for the European Parliament elections on June 7 which is also the starting point of the presidential one meant to impose the party leader Crin Antonescu as the new presidential figure, first vice president Ludovic Orban said.

This EP elections campaign should mark the real entrance in the European Union of Romanians who should become real EU citizens, he said. Therefore, the Liberal campaign is not only about persuading voters and winning by a landslide, but also by turning the party into a Europe-oriented one, he added.

Also, he stressed party representatives have the role of passing on European ideas in the Romanian society, mainly dominated by a non-European political class only familiar with lying, blackmailing and cheating.

He calls on party colleagues to take a stand and pave the way to moral reform and carry on the responsibility of new politics meant to lead the country to the level of development of European states.

Romanians will vote 33 representatives to the European Parliament, out of a total number of 736 mandates.
