Members of the National Committee for Emergency Situations in Romania discussed today the issue of the swine flu virus and looked into methods to prevent it from entering the country, according to a release of the Internal Ministry (MAI).

Minister Ion Bazac announced that people suspected of swine flu
contamination will be hospitalized at the infectious disease hospital
Matei Bals and proper quarantine methods will be taken. A preventive campaign to inform the population on the issue will be initiated today.
The
Health Ministry will publish an informative web page on the swine flu,
featuring general information, frequently asked questions, measures and
recommendations from specialists in the field.
The
ministry urges the population to intensify the personal hygiene and to
avoid self-medication and traveling in the affected areas.

to the Health Ministry, the human flu with a swine strain is not
transmitted through consumption if the pork is prepared at heat. The
symptoms are similar to those of a normal flu.

Romania
could be faced with problems caused by the swine flu starting this

Disease Institute Matei Bals, Adrian Streinu, who added that a campaign
to vaccinate the population will begin on October 1, once more
information on the type of the virus strain is received.
The
National Sanitary-Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) set-up
a committee yesterday to monitor the evolution of the swine flu. The
committee will analyze data once received and will take the appropriate
measures, depending on the situation.

not received yet any alert signal from the European Union (EU)
regarding the swine flu that already claimed its victims in Mexico and
the United States.

World Health Organization (WHO) warned on April 25 on the pandemic
potential of the new swine flu virus type A/N1H1 which is transmitted
from human to human and spread in Mexico and the United States.
A first case of swine flu in Europe was confirmed today in Spain.
