President Traian Basescu to run for the second mandate

Basescu received the emblem of Sannicolau Mare town from the local officials after making the announcement and said “this means I took a good decision.”

The social-democrat candidate for the president seat, Mircea Geoana, said he is not surprised with Basescu’s decision and reminded the president appointed Vasile Blaga as interim Interior Minister to make sure he has the most disciplined person for the election control. 

Geoana concluded by saying this is the end of a small parody in which Basescu did not fool anyone and added the president will fail to delude the Romanians during the campaign, just like he did not succeed to do so during the five years he was president.
