President Traian Băsescu proposes a referendum for a unicameral Parliament and a reduced number of MPs, 300 at maximum. The referendum should take place on the day of the presidential elections, 22nd of November.

The president explained that the organisation of this referendum is the onlz solution for him in order to be able to keep the promise regarding the modernisation of the state.
The president sail also that a smaller Parliament will be less corupted and less politicians would follow their own interest.
