Basescu said the Boc government was dismissed democratically and thanked premier Emil Boc for the effort and courage to push the reforms ahead, despite the humiliations he received from the media and the politicians. He concluded by naming Boc a honest and responsible man.
Premier Emil Boc declared after the no-confidence motion was adopted that the National-Liberal Party (PNL) and the Social-Democrat Party (PSD) voted the motion as the parliamentary of the two parties wanted to make sure they will not lose their privileges and added the democrat-liberals lost a battle, not the war.
Boc deems the responsibility for a possible governmental instability belongs to Crin Antonescu and Mircea Geoana, and underlined the reform initiated by the Democrat-Liberal Party (PDL) will not be stopped.
The social-democrat leader, Mircea Geoana, said his party is willing to contribute at making a new government that can assure a proper evolution of the elections and to continue the dialog with the international financial institutions.
He added this is one of the most important moments of the Romanian democracy, as this is the first government dismissed following a no-confidence motion.
Geoana asked President Traian Basescu, who he considers to be the main responsible for the current political crisis, to contribute at establishing a government agreed by most of the parliamentary.
The head of PNL, Crin Antonescu, deems the parties have to find Romania a new government right now, not in two months, and reminded PNL's proposal to have an independent Executive to manage the country until the elections.
Boc government cannot issue ordinances or initiate bills during its interim mandate according to the Constitution. The Executive can remain at the country's helm 45 days, until November 27, between the two ballots of the presidential elections.
The law foresees that in the current situation Romania's president has to appoint a candidate for the prime-minister position, after discussing with the parties from the Parliament. The candidate for the premier position will ask the confidence vote from the Parliament in ten days time.
If the Parliament fails to grant the confidence vote for the new government within 60 days since the first call, after the parliamentary have rejected at least two solicitations, the president can dissolve the Parliament and anticipated elections will be organized. However, the Parliament cannot be dissolved in the last six months of the president's mandate.
