US Ambassador in Romania begun his mandate

The American Ambassador in Romania, Mark Gitenstein, met the Romanian Foreign Affairs chief, Cristian Diaconescu, and they echanged letters. This is the first phase of his mission. He will present his credentials shortly to the president Traian Băsescu, which is the next step of his mission.

Cristian Diaconescu and Mark Gitenstein spoke about the special character of bi-lateral relations and the excellent level of cooperation between Romania and The United States.

U.S. Ambassador Mark Gitenstein and his wife Elizabeth (Libby) arrived in Bucharest, on August 27th.
