The bill, which amends Law 41/1994 regulating the organization and functioning of the two state-owned broadcasters, was adopted tacitly because MPs failed to debate it and put it to the vote within the set timeframe.
The bill was thumbed down by the Chamber’s committee for culture.
The bill, put forth by liberal MP Mirel Talos, requires five years of experience in television for managers of the public broadcasters and calls for a separation between the positions of general manager and chairman of the board within the public television company.
The bill also sets the attributions of the general manager are to be exercised by private management, selected following international tenders.
