Cardiologist Serban Bradisteanu, who was in charge with Paunescu's health condition, declared Thursday that the poet's disease exceeds the therapeutic resources the hospital has at its disposal and said he does not know how long the medical staff will be able to face the situation.
According to Bradisteanu, Paunescu suffered several cardiac arrests and has been resuscitated, but his condition was extremely severe and the prognostic on his chances of survival was reserved. The poet was kept alive by the medical appliances starting Wednesday.
Adrian Paunescu was 67 years old.
