"If we fail to take measures to reduce spendings on the two areas of gangrene from the state budget, Romania should ask for another loan next year in March, when we finish the accord with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and this will go where? In consumption. We will not have money for dikes, for highways and neither to develop the railway. We will borrow money to support our own expenses, just like we did in 2009 and 2010. We are sacrificing the development," the chief of state explained.
He also mentioned that in the past ten years all the parties from governance preferred to sacrifice the country's development in favor of votes, as all of them granted social aids, hiked pensions and salaries with a year or two before the elections.

President Traian Basescu said Thursday night at the public television TVR that if the government does not reduce spendings Romania will have to take another loan in March 2011, which will be used for consumption as well, underlining the country's development will be sacrificed this way.
