President Traian Basescu will meet the leaders of the five trade unions that required a meeting with the chief of state at 11 a.m. on Sunday, at the Cotroceni Palace, according to a release issued by the Presidential Administration.
The five unions to attend the meeting are Cartel Alfa, CNSLR Fratia, CSDR, BNS and CNS Meridian.
The president of BNS, Dumitru Costin, declared on Friday the five major unions formed a crisis committee and decided to ask President Basescu a meeting before the government finishes the letter of intent for the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He mentioned the unions also want to tackle the issue of the fiscal code at the meeting, so fiscal evasion and fraud to be urgently slashed in a bid to sponge additional revenues at the state budget.
The representatives of the five unions met this morning to discuss about the protests to take place in the following period, after President Traian Basescu announced the salaries in the public sector will be slashed by 25 percent and the pensions will decrease 15 percent.
